Austin Green Energy Group teamed up with A Nurtured World's program, "1 house at a time" and volunteers from AtticDr.com, and the Applied Materials Foundation Green Team to make a sustainable difference at another home in our community. This home was enhanced Saturday, January 22, 2011 and was the 1st "1house at a time" renovation for 2011 and the 30th in the history of the program since their start in 2007.

The following improvements were made:
Building Envelope/Weatherizing:
- Installation of foam insulators on all out outlets & light switches
- Seal-up / weather stripping of all exterior doors
- Repair interior sheet rock holes in front living room ceiling
- Blow in 60 bags of green fiber insulation to attic
- Apply spray-on barrier in attic
- Install solar attic ventilator on roof deck
- Install 2 gable vents and 16 soffits vents in attic
- Install insulating attic stairwell cover
- Caulk all windows
- Seal front door entry way at the base of the door
- Installation of new storm door on the existing front door
HVAC:
- Replace A/C filter with correct size
- Seal A/C plenum return box and door way
- Seal A/C ducts /register with caulk / mastic
Energy Efficiency:
- Insulate hot water heater lines in the water closet seal entry door way
- Installation of solar screens on windows
Quality of Life/Safety:
- Clean up leaves and debris in yard
- Installation of 10 rain gutter with down spout section above side entry door way.
- Clean out attic
- Seal all electrical boxes in attic to sheet rock
- Provide exterior electrical box cover on north side of home
- Repair front bedroom closet shelving

These events are used to not only make homes more energy efficient and sustainable but also as an educational tool. Each activity had an experienced leader to lead and teach the new volunteers.
