Austin Green Energy Group teamed up with a A Nurtured World's program, "1 house at a time" and volunteers from AtticDr.com, CLEAResult Consulting Inc., and Students from St. Edwards University to make a sustainable difference at another home in our community. This home was enhanced Saturday, November 13, this was the 9th "1house at a time" work events of 2010.

The following improvements were made:
- Replace scuttle hole to attic in bedroom for tighter envelope
- Install solar vent in roof
- Add two gable vents
- Install radiant barrier
- Blow in additional insulation
- Replace screen in outdoor laundry room
- Replace weather-stripping on door to laundry room
- Replace door threshold to laundry room to create tighter seal
- Replace existing incandescent bulbs with CFLs as needed
- Add gaskets to switch plates/outlets on external walls
- Replace old window unit in kitchen with energy star model (or reseal existing unit)
- Reseal older windows where accessible
- Install vegetable garden in yard
- Install gutters and rainwater cistern

These events are used to not only make homes more energy efficient and sustainable but also as an educational tool. Each activity had an experienced leader to lead and teach the new volunteers. It was a team effort that enabled the Austin Green Energy Group, A Nurtured World, AtticDr.com, CLEAResults Consulting, and Students from St. Edwards University to make a difference in our community..."1 house at a time."
